Lymphatic Drainage Therapy
Lymphatic Drainage Therapy is a unique form of therapy in which holistic professionals and massage therapists learn how to detect specific rhythm, direction, depth, and quality of the lymph flow anywhere in the body. The lymph flow refers to a clear, watery, sometimes faintly yellowish fluid derived from body tissues that contains white blood cells and circulates throughout the lymphatic system. After detecting the specific rhythm of a person's lymph flow, the massage therapist can use his or her hands to assess overall circulation and determine the best pathway for draining body-fluid stagnations.
When performing Lymphatic Drainage Therapy, the massage therapist works with flat hands, using all of his or her fingers to simulate gentle, specific, wave-like movements to manipulate lymph and interstitial fluid circulation.
