HMN Newsletter
July 24, 2009
Hello- If you have wondered what happened to the Holistic Mentorships Newsletters and updates, we have been experiencing lots of growth in the computer technology department. Now that we have passed the test, we are back in ACTION with lots more tools and support.
With that being said, I have lots of updates to share with you! First of all, our Chapter Meetings have taken a hiatus for the summer. How often are we running in a zillion directions trying to please everyone and ready to unconsciously add one more thing to our "to do" list? As Hueina Su, Life Coach and Member of HMN, says "you need to take time to care for yourself first."
So that's what we are doing at the Holistic Mentorship Network. We are taking care to balance the network by listening to our own advice!!
Our Chapter Meetings will resume in September and updates will be forthcoming as our facilitators will be looking at the Chapter Meetings and tweaking the format where needed. The Chapter Meetings are one way to connect with other Holistic Professionals and a place where the Community can come and learn about holistic & alternative health care and well-being.
A new meeting that will be launched in September is HMN National Health Care Discussion Group. This will be a place for the holistic professional and anyone interested in our health care system today, to stay informed, have a voice and work collectively together to find innovative ways to resolve the health care crisis, while ensuring that holistic health care does not get lost within the system again.
This discussion meeting developed after Susannah Pitman, an acupuncturist form Boonton, NJ, came to speak at our Northwest NJ & Butler Chapter Meetings on our National Health Care System and where or where not alternative therapies appear to fall into that system. The lively discussions brought on a greater awareness and a need from all the attendees to keep this discussion alive so each one of us can choose to be proactive while staying informed.
Susannah will be a regular contributor to MARCI™ starting with our upcoming fall edition in our legislative section on National Health Care. We will update you to the launch date and location in our upcoming newsletters and on our website. If you are interested in this discussion meeting, please call our office or email me so we can plan for the comfort of everyone.
The Holistic Mentorship Network is here to support you, to be a catalyst in strengthening our industry and raise our consciousness to how we show up in our life, in our workplace and within the world.
We love to hear your voice!!
Have an expressive day!!
Linda Mitchell

Toni's open heart brought together caretakers from far and near to receive a variety of Alternative services such as chair massage, paraffin treatment for hands, nutrition tips for caregivers, postural & nerve assessments, energy healing sessions, stress relief through meditation and movement such as Tai Chi & Qi Gong; as well as mini psychic readings.
United By Autism, helps to unite the autistic child within the community in which they live, was also present to provide additional support for both the autistic child and the caretakers.
Caretakers who were unable to attend were represented by family and friends who wanted to find out more about Alternative Services for Caretakers and for the Autistic Child in their life.
Toni's outreach is felt from the heart. Her passion to "envision" & fulfill many dreams have been met with faith, trust & belief. Toni is truly someone who Stands Tall in her belief system and resonates loudly as she continues to bring communities together.

The Young Adult: Using Sound Therapy to Enhance Quality of Life
A Case Story by Dorinne Davis
The Davis Model of Sound Intervention® incorporates the use of many different sound-based therapies to make change with learning, development and wellness. Laura, age 19, came to The Davis Center as a last resort. She was depressed, had attempted suicide twice after medications made her very aggressive, tried ‘cutting’ herself, had episodes of substance abuse—marijuana, alcohol, and prescriptions, and developed an eating disorder. She was given the diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder. She heard about this model of sound intervention from a friend and wanted to try to avoid using more medication.
The Davis Model uses a total person approach. This means that changes are not ‘taught’; they develop naturally, from within the person, leading to a level from which the person feels more together and balanced.
This total person approach is developed through the Voice-Ear-Brain Connection® first identified by Dr. Alfred Tomatis, and further validated and expanded by Dorinne Davis, Founder of The Davis Center, Succasunna, NJ. There is a cyclical connection between what the ear hears...
A flower doesn’t grow from the blossom down; it grows from the root upward. Neither does the early learner learn from the sentence backward to the sounds within the words. The Davis Model incorporates the concept that we learn, grow and develop…
